A drug used to treat androgenetic alopecia, a phenomenon known as hair follicle miniaturization. This medication inhibits the enzyme 5 alpha-reductase, which converts testosterone into DHT (dihydrotestosterone). It is, on average, 10 times more effective than finasteride at the type 2 receptor and 100 times more effective at the type 1 receptor. In men, we use up to 0.5 mg and in women, from 0.25 mg.
